Three did come off the line for the 1992 model year, but good luck finding one of those. Production of the Syclone lasted one full year and 2,995 examples were produced. Porsche 911 Turbo? The GMC bullet train was quicker to 60 miles per hour. Ferrari 348ts? The Syclone was quicker down the quarter-mile dragstrip. The GMC Syclone, with its 4.3-liter turbocharged V6 engine and all-wheel-drive setup, became the fastest truck on the planet and was able to shock many sportscars and exotics of its time. In 1991, General Motors decided it wanted to build a truck not for utility but for speed. I will keep that trick up my sleeve for later.EBay Find of the Day: 1991 GMC Syclone Marlboro is period smokin'ĮBay Find of the Day: 1991 GMC Marlboro Syclone – Click above for image gallery Being that it is you’re very low mileage unit, just at 6000, there was no need to repaint the cases or anything, but I did wanna make sure everything inside look perfect while making the outside looks perfect at the same time! I had wanted to try and make it a 300, But since I am building this for my son I don’t want to do anything to sacrifice reliability. I have also started working on getting the motor ready to go. I am going to paint a piece of board and I have already primer and compare them in the sunlight and make my decision. Unfortunately there was not one so I bought one can of Toyota and one can of Honda. Hi try to find a color at the auto parts store that matched it and that they also would have two cans of. Studying a couple of white panels that I have I realized that the Honda white is a metallic or pearl white. I must say that I have very high hopes!! I was going to go with just your basic bright white but after Well, we put another coat of primer on the bike last night and I got up early to wet sand it this morning. ![]() In any case, it must have been standing in some barn for decades, because it doesn't even have 10,000 miles on the clock. A few weeks ago I was offered this Nixie as a barn find, which has all the features of the rally machines (88 US, WP suspension kit, originally blue, etc.). A few of these have resurfaced over the years.īut the rally NX250 stayed gone, no wonder, they (or parts of them) should be in the USA. They were German versions, so these could not be the rally machines. In 1989 Marlboro raffled 10 NX250s that also had the WP suspension kit, but not the aluminum engine guard. The whereabouts of these 14 Marlboro Nixies was unknown, even though I was intensely searching for the last 10 years. Started immediately and ran without any suspicious noises – lucky me. So it was exciting to fire up the engine for the first time. On a rally machine you always have to be prepared for serious engine damages and I had never heard the engine run before. The fairing was painted in Marlboro red, which is somewhat darker than the fighting red of the European NX250. For their 1989 rally, Marlboro bought 14 blue 88 US - NX250, added expensive WP rear shocks and fork springs / extensions, aluminium engine covers, NX650 handlebars and steel rear racks. My newest project – a 1988 Marlboro Rally NX250.
